On the method of the critics
Daniel C. Peterson / FAIR / Interpreter
Peterson has spent decades showing that anti-Mormon argument often trades on double standards (Bible gets nuance; Restoration gets none), on quotations without genre, and on the 'one damning fact' that turns out to be a researched literature. Ward Radio, Thoughtful Faith, and Saints Unscripted now do the same work in public video. The tactic is not new. Neither is the defense: primary sources plus the Holy Ghost.
A difficulty is not a disproof. A stack of difficulties is still not a disproof. It is a reading list.
- Demand the same charity for Joseph that scholars give Moses and Paul.
- Follow footnotes; many 'gotchas' cite each other, not the archive.
- The appointed close of the argument is Moroni 10, not a comment section.
