Becoming Like God
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Latter-day Saints hope to become like the Father through Christ — joint-heirs, not rivals. King Follett is one sermon in that stream. It is not the baptismal interview. Eastern Christians have said ‘God became man so that man might become god’ for centuries. The Restoration is blunt about it. Blunt is not the same as blasphemous.
We do not replace the Father. We are invited, through the Son, to become what a child can become.
- Theosis is older than Nauvoo.
- A funeral sermon is not the Standard Works.
- ‘As man now is, God once was’ is a couplet, not a biography of the Father’s mortal sins.
