One Mediator — 1 Timothy 2:5

There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. So why prophets, temples, and priesthood?

2 Nephi 2:6–8

No flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits of the Messiah.

Redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth… there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah.

Jesus Christ the Mediator

FAIR Latter-day Saints

We do not pray to Joseph, Mary, or a living prophet as a second Savior. We pray to the Father in the name of the Son. Offices in the Church are 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4, not a rival Golgotha. ‘One mediator’ is a weaponized verse against us that would, if applied evenly, empty every pulpit but Christ’s — and no one actually lives that way.

Christ is the ransom. Prophets are witnesses. Those are not the same job.

  • Paul, who wrote 1 Timothy 2:5, also claimed to be an apostle sent by Jesus.
  • Temple ordinances point to Christ; they do not replace Him.
  • If your pastor can ‘lead you to Jesus’ without being a second mediator, so can a prophet.
