Does chiasmus in the Book of Mormon actually matter?

Hebrew loves the inverted pattern. Finding it in the Book of Mormon is not a farmhouse hobby.

Alma’s conversion narrative opens and closes on 'remember' and deliverance, with the chiastic center at 'Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me' — the gospel in the middle of the form.

The Isaiah scroll preserves the same inverted structures that mark biblical poetry — chiasm is a native Hebrew way of thinking, not a nineteenth-century flourish.
Alma 36 is long, tight, and centered on Christ. That is Hebrew sermon architecture.

Welch identified chiasmus in 1967. Since then, dozens of extended examples have been mapped. Random English prose does not yield Alma 36. The form puts Christ at the structural heart of Alma’s life — which is the theological point, not a parlor trick.
When the center of the chiasm is Jesus Christ, the form is doing gospel work, not merely showing off.
