FAIR
Cumorah and geography
FAIR Latter-day Saints
Early Saints often assumed one Cumorah. The text allows a New York depository (Moroni traveling far with a small set of plates) and a Mesoamerican-scale destruction. Neither faith nor apostleship requires a final stand in Palmyra. What is revealed is that Moroni buried the plates Joseph found.
We are bound by Moroni’s plates, not by nineteenth-century assumptions about battlefields.
- Joseph’s hill is the place of the plates we have.
- Mormon 6 describes a different kind of landscape and scale.
- Limited geography and a New York repository can both be true.
