Martin Harris, Oliver Cowdery, and David Whitmer all spent years outside the Church and still testified. The Eight remained matter-of-fact: they saw and hefted. Hallucination theories have to hypnotize eleven men for decades, including men who thought Joseph was a fallen prophet and still would not recant the plates.
A fraud needs the witnesses to collapse. These witnesses would not.
